Nobody Panic!!!!!

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

Hold tight, I have good news and bad news for you.

There are going to be some changes to Sprinkle of Glitter. The big boys over at Google have decided they are removing that little gadget at the side of this page called 'Google Friend Connect'. Can you see it? It has a whole heap of smiling faces there and they are you, the people of this blog. Naturally a blog would still exist without the people, but to me, you make this space what it is. You are the life of it. The 'awww' sounds for Baby Glitter posts and the 'ooooohhh' sounds for purdy pictures of makeup. You are special to me and special to Sprinkle of Glitter. When Google removes this gadget, your smiling faces will be removed too. Sad sad sad.

There is however a solution. Wooohhhooo!

Moving from GFC to Bloglovin

Bloglovin is a brilliant service that allows you to follow as many blogs as you like and organise them in any way you like. For those of you who are a bit messy (like me!), you can just click the 'follow' buttons and not bother with categories-haha. Bloglovin is free and simple, and that's coming from a tech idiot! I've heard the app is also great.

THIS LINK will take you to my page where there will be a big shiny 'follow' button. By following, you will be completely up to date with Sprinkle of Glitter and can pick and choose which posts you choose to read and when you choose to read them. It will allow you to see, at a glance, what posts have been uploaded to mine and any other blogs you follow. You can follow as many as you like.

It will also allow me to see and know you, and that's important. I like to feel like this is a conversation and a family and not just you looking through a one way mirror. That's just a touch creepy, non?

So, in short, may I please ask you a favour? In return for regular uploads, a kind spirit and maybe the odd giveaway here and there, please could you click onto my page and follow it?

Thank you if you do. If you don't, maybe another day eh?

Whilst you're there, you might be interested to follow some of these blogs too? They are my personal favourites and well worth your time and support.

Are you a blog following convert? Do you read any of the above blogs?

Toodlepip!

xx

  2. How strange that they're getting rid of that... Was there any reason?

I'm following you on Bloglovin', as well as most of the blogs you listed!

Thanks so much for letting us know about this change!

    1. It's rubbish isn't it? I don't know why they are getting rid of it but I think most bloggers are trying to be as prepared as possible so we don't loose all our readers.

Thank you so much for being so supportive :) xxx

  3. I hate the fact that they are getting rid of Google Friend Connect :( I love Google Reader aswell so it's just sad because I think they want everyone to start using Google+ and therefore you will be kind of forced to use it when GFC shuts down... unless you use Bloglovin' of course ;) which is what I'm going to do because I'm so tired of this Google nonsense!

  4. LOUISE! please read it! I've heard that there might be a way we can MAYBE keep the GFC followers, all we need is 43 000 more signatures on this site https://www.change.org/petitions/googl e-keep-google-reader-running i have no idea if it is a right thing but we could atleast try so maybe you could share it with your readers/viewers, we don't have much time left.

  7. Bloglovin' is great! The only thing is that people seem to follow with GFC and not Bloglovin' so everyone's follower lists are really skewed :-/

  11. I've heard mixed things about whether they really are getting rid of GFC or not. Some people are saying that blogger.com sites will still have their GFC followers but I don't know. I set up my own Bloglovin' a little while ago anyway so I'm safe either way!

I heard they are getting rid of Google Reader not GFC! I read about the difference on a german blog and just looked for an english post about it. Here :) http://www.lifeandeverythingelseinbetween.com/2013/03/google-readergfc-information.html

So it should be okay ;)

  16. Where did you find this information? I think this rumour has been going through the blogger community for nearly 2 years, but in March 2012 they decided to leave GFC in blogs... are there any news about changing that?
I tried to google it, but I didn't find anything newer than the information above..

    ReplyDelete

    1. I agree with you. I really don't think GFC is being removed its just Google Reader which is an entirely different thing!! I have had a look too and can't see anything newer than March 2012 and that was only affecting wordpress blogs and that GFC was being taken off them!

Louise please let us know where you got your info from :) so we can all get on the right page! :)

  23. I'm confused. I understand the fact google friend connect is going but is bloglovin the same thing just under a different name, or is it a different blog platform? Although I don't follow your blog (love it just never seem to remember to click the follow button) I check it everyday and whatever your post I read and enjoy. Keep up the work you do on your blog and on youtube as you are amazing :)

    1. What they say:
We launched Google Reader in 2005 in an effort to make it easy for people to discover and keep tabs on their favorite websites. While the product has a loyal following, over the years usage has declined. So, on July 1, 2013, we will retire Google Reader. Users and developers interested in RSS alternatives can export their data, including their subscriptions, with Google Takeout over the course of the next four months.
