Pink Ombre Hair

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

Call the cops, I've gone wild.

If you follow Sprinkle Of Glitter in all it's forms (this blog, youtube, twitter, instagram etc) you will have seen that since I wrote this Hair History post back in January, things have changed a little in the barnette department.

Pink_Ombre_Hair

In February I started the transition from brunette ombre to full blonde. It took a few full heads of highlights (I have extremely thick hair- as in a lot of strands of hair and all of them individually thick) to achieve the blonde I wanted but happily, it happened.

This month, after missing the ombre effect, I have decided to push my comfort zone a bit and add pink.

I think I'm in love.

Pink_Ombre_Hair

I have a really good relationship with my hairdresser so I was able to talk about it a fair bit before we went ahead. A few weeks prior, she took a snippit of my hair to test on and play with so we were pretty prepared.

I was clear in what I wanted (bright candy pink ombre, not dip dye) and Alicia was completely on her A-Game. She even did a bit of online research to be exactly clear on what we were working toward. She is an absolute gem. If you would like a full review on the salon I go to, let me know.

It took no longer to do than any other dye work and came out brilliantly. I'm glad we put so much effort in at the start of the blonde transition because the plan (yep, I planned this hair way back in February haha) was always to add colour in the summer, so it was totally worth it.

Pink_Ombre_Hair

The response I've had from people when they see my new-do has been very warm.

I had some reservations that I might be too old/too chubby/too goodness-knows-what to pull off such a bold style but they were only fleeting. Of course there will be folk who think bright colours are for teenagers or that a married mother should be more conservative but to them I say, 'I pity your small mind'.

It's hair. It's stuff that grows out of your head and can be cut on a whim. You can do anything you like with it and you aren't too anything to not allow it. Whether you are fat, thin, short, tall, fashionable, young, old, obsessed with stamp collecting, do what makes you happy. Don't judge people on their choices and don't stifle your own in fear of theirs, be glad of what you have been given and enjoy it. Appreciate it, not everyone has the luxury of hair to play with. Be thankful.

What do you think? Will pink ombre catch on? If you could do ANYTHING with your hair, what would it be? Let's get creative in the comments!

  3. Absolutely love love your hair like this! I would love to dye my hair lilac, but I'm just not brave enough. (Maybe one day!) I think that colored ombre definitely has the potential to become a big trend!

  4. I think it looks absolutely beautiful. You inspired me to ombre my hair and months back I did a very slight ombre but now it is full on and I couldn't be happier. I want to at some point put purple in the bottom but that is a big step for me. You are certainly my hair-spiration. Thank you for that!

  5. wow your hair is so cool! I love it! If I were to 'ombre' my hair I would do light brown because my hair is black and I think it would look good :)

  6. If I could do anything to my hair I'd ombre the ends a lighter blond, and then I'd add in some color similar to the Lauren Conrad picture that always goes around.

I guess for now I shall just have to admire others' hair. Definitely agree with the last part too... who cares what other people think? Live for you!

  21. I think i'm in love too! And you pull it off just brilliantly! I unfortunately am not as bold as you and i went for the safe lblonde/light brown over to really dark brown ombré but i love it! If i did have the guts to do something i would maybe go with purpely pink over to purple ombré. I've seen it on people and just loved it, it's a shame i'm not that confident yet but thanks to you i'm closer! I'll get to that level...some day! Also saw a wizard made out of a guy's hair, wouldn't want it myself but i thought it looked really aweaome and definately different, he'll stand out! :) xxx

  29. I wish I was confident enough to go pink, you pull it off so well! I dyed my hair for the first time this year in college from blonde to brunette, but I'd LOVE to do ombre (my natural dirty blonde to light brown). However I leave next month to work an internship at Disney World and they don't allow that :\ Maybe afterwards!

I've been dying my hair in a lot of bright colours over the past year.I guess I had almost every red and pink shade that exists. Yet, I am rather concerned on what people will say to having purple hair. But you are right, it does wash out again eventually and in the end its my hair, my life and why not express mysel with a crazy haircolour? Talking about crazy haircolours. I am absolutely in love with rainbow coloured hair! However, that's just a step too far for me :D xx

  104. I love your pink ombré & your attitude, that you should just do whatever you like to. I think this is really important & hearing that from people like you helps me & probably many others a lot, because I am that kind of person that really hesitates doing what I like because I think of other peoples opinions way too much. Even though you are 25, you should be able to do whatever you like with your hair without other people making stupid comments, like why should they possibly care? It's fine if they personally don't want it, but I don't think people should make others feel bad or insecure about how they dress / do their hair,...

Anyway, thank you for your words, Louise, you are such an amazing person <3

  115. WOW!!! You are absolutely stunning, the pink ombre suits you soo well! I have been thinking about this myself for a while and you have given me the kick up the bum and confidence that I needed to go for it.

I have recently started my own blog and I would love if the Sprinklerinos could check it out and drop a comment to say hi!

  120. Like you said, "Its hair", and anyone and everyone should not think of how others will react in something that you, personally want/like. Take no regards to what other people might think. You're doing what YOU want to do, and I as well as many others I would hope, find respect and inspiration from that.

  122. I love your hair rock the pink louise and mums do not need to be fuddy duddy. I had a dramatic hair change this year aswell going from long hair to short all in the name of the alzheimer's society and the little princesses trust. I would love to go blonde for a change but I am scared of damaging my hair.

I would love a review of the salon you got to. Is it a chain of branches or a one off?

  123. The hair is gorgeous! Reminds me very much of Avril Lavigne's hair which I loved back then too :)

  124. The pink looks absolutely lovely on you! I don't think I would ever be brave enough to dye my hair such a fun color, so I definitely admire you for going for it! And as for comments that say "you're too old for this" or "you're too whatever for that," that's absolutely ridiculous. Your hair and your body is 100% yours and you can do whatever you'd like with it and whatever makes YOU feel happy! I completely agree with everything you've said, Louise! Your positivity makes my day!

  125. I love your hair! Who says you can't have a fun hairstyle because your a mom? I'm sure when Darcy is older she will be super glad that she actually has a cool mom! (:
It's so dangerous to think about what I would do if I could do absolutely anything with my hair because then I'll really want to do it! Haha but I would definitely go for a flame red and keep the length of my hair as it is, because it reaches the bottom of my back. Finally! I'm actually really in love with my hair too because I've been growing it out for so long and it's finally at the length that I want it to be!

  126. Love it! I dyed the underneath of my hair blue last year and kept it for seven months or so. I miss it! I might try it again next spring, but more like yours. Mine took two appointments to get out.

  129. The ombre looks amazing! When I was younger I always wanted bright blue streaks in my hair. Now I'm just trying to grow it (I went from having waist length hair and then 5 years ago I cut it into a very short bob and now I'm bored) and then I might ombre it bright red or something.

  130. Oh I love it! It really suits you, I wish I was more confident to try something different with my hair. I have curly hair and it took forever for me to be comfortable enough to go out with straight hair haha
And may I just say that I love the way you write?

  131. Ah I love this Louise! I'm the same age as you and, while I'm not married or a Mama, I definitely don't think I'm too old/whatever else for pink hair. So pleased you took the plunge and did it!

  132. I've dyed my hair crazy colous since my early teens. I am now 23 with a 2 year old and I do have people saying that I should stop and dye my hair a natural colour quite frequently. I've been told I am a bad influence on my son for it, but they way I see it, I'm teaching my son that it's OK to be who you are and look how you want regardless of what other people think.
The sooner people release that appearence does not indicate how good a parent someone is, the better.
I think you rock the pink Louise.

I had a fringe last year but I let it grow out & now I'm so tempted to get a new 'alexa chung/zooey deschanel' fringe! I also cut my hair from below my boobs to my shoulders a few months ago. It was pretty scary!
Anywho you're hair really suits your personality :)

  138. Being completely not up on the terminology in hair things, whats the difference between ombre and dip-dye? Looks fab though, I would love to try it but I tried going blonde once and I looked very ill!

  142. Your hair looks amazing!! <3 And actually after seeing it on youtube I got courage to do something similar myself after longing for this kind of hair for ages. I used candy color since I'm lazy and can't make my self go to hairdresser. It worked but was not very lasting. But if someone want's a look for one event only etc. I recommend it, but use gloves or else you will have pretty and pink fingers too like I did :D No I'm trying to get my self buy actual haircolor but haven't got it yet. We'll see if I'll find courage to do that one :P I love your posts so keep it up! :) And if you have any blogging tips feel free to share and check mine out :P

  151. I would definitely add some pink to my hair! I'm not quite as blonde as you but still blonde and I am loving how the bright pink looks on you. You were totally right to go ahead with it; there are always going to be critics but the only person you should worry about pleasing is yourself!

  155. I think this is quite possibly my most favorite post of yours. I think it's very relatable, not just because I have ombred hair, but because I think it's become so second-hand nature to fear what other people may think of one's ways and whims. Somehow you tied in the appreciation of vanity and the reminder that you shouldn't mind so much about other peoples' judgement, and the only one that counts is your own. Every now and then a little blurb I find significant is stored safely in a nook of my brain, so I think your reply of, "I pity your small mind," has found a place in my crazy head. On a lighter note, you go gurl! Love the hur! <3

  158. I love this so so much! I think doing all my hair a color is a little extreme for me but I want to do something fun for summer. I think the pink looks so cute on blondes but I have really dark hair so I'm thinking more like purple. I can't wait to do it.
